Birim North DCE appeals to NDC delegates to vote for her

Koforidua, Oct. 4, GNA - Ms Mavis Ama Frimpong, Birim North District Chief Executive (DCE), has appealed to delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to vote for her in the up-coming New Abirem Parliamentary primary.

According to her, she has the qualities and capabilities to wrestle the seat from the candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Ms Frimpong said it was time for the NDC to present a female candidate, who had all the credentials to match the NPP Parliamentary Candidate in order to win the seat for the NDC.

Speaking in an interview with Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Koforidua on Monday, she said, it was only a woman of her caliber that could wrestle the seat from the NPP, adding the electorates were now enlightened and needed people with experience.

Ms Frimpong, one of the only two female Chief Executives in the Region and among the six females contesting the NDC primaries had appealed to the delegates to give women the chance to contest on the ticket of the party.

She said the NPP had dominated most seats in the Region and it was about time to give women the chance to win the seats from the NPP.

Ms Frimpong said apart from increasing the female representation in Parliament, she would also serve as role model for girls in the constituency where she described as having one of the lowest records in girl-child education
