Birim Central Assembly starts screening exercise at entry points

As part of efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus to the Birim Central Municipal Area, the Municipal Health Service Directorate has deployed nurses to each of the three entry points to the municipality to start screening people entering and getting out of the municipality.

The entry points were located at Crossing, the entry point from the Birim South District, Akim State College, entering point from Asene Manso Akroso District and SawMills, entering points of the municipality from Akyemansa District.

Mr James Avoka, the Birim Central Municipal Director of Health said, the municipality has not recorded any COVID-19 case yet, hence the need to initiate the screening exercise to prevent the spread of the disease to the municipality.

He revealed that, other measures put in place to contain the spread of the disease include; the convention of the infirmary at Oda Senior High School into an eight-bed quarantine centre and was ready for use.

He said also a 15 beds isolation centre has been established at the Akim Oda Government Hospital.

Mr Avoka said, plans were afoot to create additional quarantine centres at St. Francis Senior High Technical School and Attafuah Senior High Technical School.

He advised the public to stay safe and healthy from the pandemic.
