Bibiani Projects Not Abandoned - Presiding Member

Accra (GAR), July 11, - Ex-Staff Sergeant Thomas B. K. Osei, Presiding Member of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District Assembly, today urged residents to discard rumours that some development p Speaking at a press conference in Accra, Staff Ser geant Osei said it is not true that work on the 30-kilometre Bibiani-Awaso road will not commence until the completion of the Bibiani-Nawbekor r He said it is also not true that the proposed project was a government propaganda to win votes in the last general elections. According to him, the Ministry of Roads and Highways announced this year that the Bibiani-Awaso road will be done before the Bibiani- Nawbekor one. He said the contractor, MOTA, a Portuguese Company, saw it prudent to start work on the latter since it led to a site for a stone quarry from where stone chippings needed for the projects would Staff Sgt. Osei said the Bibiani-Nawbekor road goe s through a forest and the Company is only c learing a route to the quarry site after which chippings from there would be carted to the project s He said this would shorten the distance from the quarry to Bibiani and avoid the carting of the chippings through Kumasi to Bibiani which will increa se cost and delay work. In the interim, he said, the Company is conditioning the bad portions of the Bibiani-Awaso road to facilitate movement of vehicles. On self-help electrification projects, Staff Sgt.
