Jasikan, Oct. 2, GNA - Patience Ama Yerenkyi and Justice Nkani, both self-employed have been elected as Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Parliamentary Candidates for the Buem and Kadjebi-Akan constituencies respectively. Gershon Quincy Ayiih, Volta Regional Chairman of DFP told both congresses at Jasikan and Kadjebi that the DFP was the third force in Ghana's politics. He said the party recognized the achievements of the parties that had ruled the nation so far, but "for now, the best choice for the country was DFP". Mr Ayiih said the DFP's has a strategy to turn Ghana into a middle level income nation by overhauling the agricultural sector through "a green revolution" to raise production levels and incomes. Madam Yerenkyi called on the youth and women to count on her to deliver, when she is voted into parliament to pursue their interests. Mr Nkani observed that the government's economic programmes had hardly helped the people out of poverty. He said he would champion economic development projects, which were human centred when elected. Mr Emil Brantuo, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Buem, on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), urged supporters of the DFP to work hard to wrest the seat from the NDC.
