Kwame Afum, a 23-year-old man at Begoro in the Fanteakwa District of the Eastern Region, yesterday allegedly attempted killing himself because of challenges he claimed he had been facing.

In an interview with him, he said he’s facing challenges but he’s not getting any help from either the family or acquaintances.

According to him, he is a driver but he doesn’t have driving licence and for that matter, he is jobless.

“I’m tired in this world. I’m a driver but not getting driving licence to drive. Everything is going against me in this world so I wished I was dead so as to end all these challenges,” Kwame Afum said.

According to sources, Wednesday at about 8:00 pm, he climbed a tall building in the town of Begoro and wanted to jump down to kill himself.

The sources said some members of the community who read meaning into his negative intention began preventing him from doing that before fire service and police personnel arrived at the scene. He was said to be standing on top of the building at the time.

The sources indicated that the security personnel pleaded with Kwame Afum to stop what he intended doing but he was insistent and so jumped from the building onto a different one. He again jumped onto another building and reportedly kept doing that since the buildings were close to one another.

Finally, he reportedly jumped onto one building that was housing a tailoring shop and felt into the room. He was then grabbed by the Begoro District police.

Kwame Afum, now nicknamed Super Man, is currently in the custody of the police.
