The former Vice President and the flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has commiserated with the families affected by the tragic building collapse in Accra New Town.
In a post shared on his social media page on Sunday, March 29, 2026, he stated:
“I have received with sadness news of the tragic building collapse in Accra New Town this afternoon. The building is said to be a place of Christian worship. May the lives lost painfully rest in peace, and my deepest sympathy goes to the families."

Dr Bawumia also praised the emergency response team for their prompt intervention.
“I also commend the rescue teams for their efforts to save lives,” he added, while commending emergency responders for their swift intervention.
The incident occurred on Sunday, March 29, 2026, when an uncompleted four-storey structure near the Experimental D/A School collapsed during a church gathering.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service, 23 people were trapped in the debris.
Rescue teams successfully evacuated 20 individuals who were immediately taken to hospital, while two females and one male were confirmed dead.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has ordered students to stay away from the site.
