Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia holds a decisive lead in the race to become the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) next flagbearer, according to the latest polling data from Global InfoAnalytics, which points to his overwhelming support among the party's core base as the key differentiator.

The September 2025 poll, which surveyed NPP voters, reveals a commanding national advantage for the Vice President.

The data indicates that 72% of NPP voters who supported Dr Bawumia (DMB) in the 2024 general election continue to prefer him as the party's leader.

This solidifies a massive retention rate that places him well ahead of his main rival, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong (KOA), who is preferred by 20% of this demographic.

Dr Bawumia’s stronghold in the Ashanti Region further cements his frontrunner status.

In this critical electoral battleground for the NPP, 73% of party voters who backed him previously are standing by him, compared to 20% for KOA.

The numbers paint a clear picture: Dr. Bawumia is in a dominant position within the party's grassroots.

His ability to maintain such overwhelming loyalty from his previous voters gives him a formidable foundation heading into the internal elections.

A significant finding from the poll is Dr Bawumia's performance among disgruntled NPP voters in the Ashanti Region who voted for the NDC's John Dramani Mahama (JDM) in the last election.

While this group is more split nationally, a striking 63% of these voters in Ashanti prefer Dr. Bawumia to lead the NPP, suggesting he is the most potent candidate to reunify the party's base in its heartland.

As the contest moves into a more decisive phase, Global InfoAnalytics has announced the commencement of its October 2025 delegates polls.

This subsequent survey will be crucial in determining if Dr Bawumia's robust support among the general party electorate translates directly into the delegate votes needed to secure the nomination in January 2026.

For now, the data from the party's base suggests a clear trajectory: Dr. Bawumia is in the lead and holds the momentum.
