Bawku West Assembly makes progress

Zebilla (U.E), Nov. 1, GNA - Mr Adam Moro Anabah, District Chief Executive of Bawku West, at the weekend said the assembly was operating an open door policy to ensure effective, efficient and participatory local governance.

He said as part of its accountability and transparency policy, the assembly had publicised fee fixing resolutions, annual budgets, procurement plans and final accounts for the public to access at no cost, and called on the people to offer ideas to the assembly.

Mr Anabah said that traditional authorities and those who served as government appointees were called upon to advice and participate in activities of the assembly.

He was speaking at assembly's "Meet the Press" series in Zebilla, which attracted Assembly Members, chiefs, heads of department and the general public.

Mr Anabah said spot improvement of a 10 km Tilli-Binaba, 51.4km Zebilla-Kokori, 8.4 km Kukurizu-Widnaba, 7.0km Kubori-Teshie and 13.1km Tilli-Winaba roads, and construction of a bridge on Zebilla-Zabre, which were all awarded in 2008 have been completed.

He said spot improvement of feeder roads including, 13.1km Tilli Widnaba, 6.9 Binaba-Kopela, 3.9 Tanga-Kpalsako and Sapeliga-Galaka, under the present administration have been completed.

Mr Anabah said damaged boreholes and hand dug wells were rehabilitated and disinfection of boreholes was carried out, and that the construction of an abattoir at Binaba, which was awarded this year, was 55 per cent complete.
