A total of 509,824 candidates are expected to sit for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which starts today Monday, June 4, 2018.

The candidates are from 16,058 schools and the exams would be conducted at 1,768 centres across the country.

The examination body, the West African Examination Council (WAEC), has been called upon by Parliament to go the extra mile to prevent any leakage of the papers.

A statement signed by Mr Siaka Stevens, the Chairman of the Education Committee of Parliament, urged the students to resist any temptation to cheat and reminded them that there were no shortcuts to success and that cutting corners would not do.

Corporate bodies, political leaders and non-governmental organisations during these times normally donate examination materials to students in their respective areas of operations and constituencies.

Tullow Ghana Limited and Youth Bridge Foundation are the latest to have empowered 916 candidates in Jomoro, Western Region, through science practicals.
