Oliver Barker-Vormawor, an outspoken political activist, has insisted that his earlier allegations concerning the Parliamentary Appointments Committee were based on facts known to members of the committee.

In a post on his X page on Friday, September 4 2026, Barker-Vormawor said he was disappointed by the backlash he received from Ghanaians after making the claims, despite insisting that he was speaking in the interest of the public.

“When I made my comments about the Appointments Committee based on actual truth that those on the Committee not only knew to be true, but that I also knew to be true,” he wrote.

According to him, what hurt him most was the lack of public support following his allegations.

“What broke my heart most were the insults of the very Ghanaians whose interests I was speaking for. I couldn’t believe how much lack of support I received for something so plain as day,” he stated.

Barker-Vormawor said some people continue to believe that he fabricated the allegations, but expressed confidence that the truth would eventually emerge.

“Till today, there are people who actually believe that I made those claims up,” he said.

He used a metaphor to suggest that attempts to conceal wrongdoing would eventually be exposed.

“When you keep pretending your dead mother is alive, soon the smell will lead termites to your room,” he wrote.

Barker-Vormawor also questioned whether the allegations would lead to any meaningful investigation, particularly as Parliament continues with the process of confirming judicial appointments.

“But just watch! Watch to see if any real inquiry will happen. Watch to see if this scandal will be enough to stop the confirmation of the appointment of the Judges to interrogate anything?” he asked.

He predicted that the matter could eventually be pushed aside without any substantial action.

“It will be swept away, and we will move on as a people,” he stated.

According to him, attention could instead turn against the person who raises concerns, rather than addressing the substance of the allegations.

“Soon they will start insulting and persecuting the MP instead of actually dealing with the problem. That’s how it has always been,” he wrote. Barker-Vormawor cited several politicians and activists whom he said had experienced similar treatment after raising controversial issues.

“From Ayariga, to Ablakwa, to Barker-Vormawor and now Patricia Appiagyei. This is how it has always been,” he stated.

He further suggested that revelations about other parliamentary processes could emerge in the future.

“Maybe one day they themselves will start telling the truth about what really happened at the Public Accounts Committee too,” he added.

Ending his post, Barker-Vormawor said he remained confident that time would eventually prove his claims right.

“But for today, I say Vindication is really in the womb of time,” he concluded.
