The Kumasi Circuit Court One has adjourned the case involving five boys in the Bantama gang-rape video to reappear on January 31, 2018.

The case was adjourned after the prosecutor told the court presided over by Her Honour Comfort Tasiame, that one of the suspects' school, Bantama St. Anthony R/C Primary, has failed to produce the age records of the suspect after a court order and would need more time to conduct further investigations to unravel his age.

It would be recalled that the Asokwa Juvenile court ordered three of the suspects’ schools, namely Weweso Primary School, Obuasi Amamom Primary School and Bantama St. Anthony R/C Primary School to produce the age records of the suspects after the parents of the accused persons failed to produce their birth records.

Two of the schools, Weweso Primary School and Obuasi Amamom Primary School have complied and produced the age records of which the Obuasi Amamom Primary records show that the suspect's age is above 18years while the Weweso Primary records also put the suspect's age under 17, but Bantama St. Anthony R/C Primary has since not produced the suspect's age records.

The Asokwa Juvenile Court yesterday struck out the case since it did not have jurisdiction over the case after the prosecutor told the court that one of the suspects' age was above 17 years and would want to try the case at an open court.

The suspects were discharged and re-arrested by police. The suspects were arraigned before the Kumasi Circuit Court One on Thursday, January 18, 2018 but has been adjourned.

All the suspects were in court with their parents but the lawyers for the suspects could not make it to court.
