Banister family donates again

Winneba, Sept 10, GNA- Professor E.A. Haizel, presiding member of Awutu-Effutu-Senya district assembly, has called on Ghanaians to contribute towards the development and promotion of health facilities in the district.

He said it was about time Ghanaians learnt to cultivate a strong spirit of "do- it-yourself than relying on donors for everything we need in our communities". Prof Haizel was receiving assorted equipment donated to the Winneba government hospital by the Banister family of the United States through Nana Ghartey vii, Omanhene of the Effutu traditional area on Thursday.

The family had made similar donations worth more than 100,000 dollars and dental equipment estimated at 50 million dollars to the hospital. Nana Ghartey appealed to the authorities to make good use of the equipment.

Dr Benjamin Aflakpui, the Medical Superintendent in-charge, expressed appreciation to the donors and appealed to other organisations and individuals to adopt wards in the hospital to enhance their regular maintenance.
