Bamson Gives ?10m to Otumfuo Education Fund

BAMSON Company Limited, local representatives of Akzo-Nobel-Sikkens car refinishing paints and Sandtex decorative masonry paints, has donated ?10 million to the Otumfuo Education Fund as the company's contribution.

Mr. Rex Danquah, Chief Executive of RICS Consult Limited, Public Relations Consultants for Bamson Company made the presentation on behalf of Mr. Kwame Ofosu-Bamfo, Managing Director.

Mr. Ofosu-Bamfo said he was particularly happy with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II's initiative in mooting the idea, which has now been acclaimed not only in Ghana but world wide.

He said the numerous commendations and international awards Otumfuo has since received attest to the importance education has, saying Ghana cannot be left out.

He added that as an industrialist, he sees that the way forward for the country and the youth lies in quality education, and Otumfuo must be commended and supported by all well-meaning Ghanaians and corporate bodies.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II thanked Mr. Ofosu-Bamfo and all those who have made similar contributions to the Fund.

He said he was moved by the plight of Ghanaian youth who roam the streets of the cities and villages without any means of attaining an education. He was therefore hopeful that this would open the floodgate for the emancipation of the Ghanaian youth, especially the girl child, to be able to take advantage of available technologies for accelerated development of the country.
