Baby rescued from public toilet

A baby that was dumped in a public toilet at Atimatim Taboum in the Ashanti Regional capital of Kumasi has been rescued.

Residents of the area who helped rescue the baby from the public latrine said they were attracted to the scene to help the less than a month old when they heard him scream for help.

With his umbilical cord yet to be cut off, residents believe the mother of the baby dumped him into the latrine after delivery.

The residents have mounted a search for the mother who is believed to be either in the neighbourhood or came from adjourning suburbs to execute the inhumane act.

The residents are however yet to report the incident to the police as at the time of filing the story.
