Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Baba Jamal, has pledged GH¢5,000 to each trader affected by the recent fire outbreak at Nima Market to help them restart their businesses.

Jamal made the announcement during a visit to the scene on May 12, 2026, after assessing the extent of the damage, according to a report by adomonline.com.

“Seeing that this is a serious tragedy that affected our people last night, my MCE and NADMO officials all rushed here and were able to help. But you can see that some serious devastation has taken place,” he stated.

The MP disclosed that some affected traders had already submitted their details and would receive the financial support directly from him.

“A few people who have been affected have given me their list. And so, on my own, I want to offer GH¢5,000 to each of the victims in the interim,” Jamal said.

He also appealed to the government to support the construction of an ultra-modern market in the constituency to improve trading conditions and help prevent future fire outbreaks.

“I want to send my heartfelt sympathies to the people who have lost their wares, and also to all the people in this market,” he added.

“I call on the government, our president, and the entire nation to come and assist in these difficult times,” he appealed.
