The former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food and Buffer Stock Company Limited (NAFCO), Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, has been released from the custody of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) after his arrest on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
Sources familiar with the matter told GhanaWeb that Hanan was released on the night of July 8, 2026, without any bail conditions.

According to the sources, his release followed an intervention by his lawyer, Godfred Yeboah Dame, who reportedly informed the authorities that his client would not agree to the conditions they had proposed.
Lawyers for Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba had described his arrest as unfair, arguing that it was intended to prevent him from exercising his right to travel after an Accra High Court granted him permission to leave the jurisdiction.
The legal team also challenged the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, to make public evidence supporting claims that Hanan had attempted to "empty his frozen bank account."
They contend that neither the Attorney General's Office, the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), nor the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has produced any such evidence.
The lawyers subsequently filed an application for a writ of habeas corpus, asking the court to order the Attorney General, EOCO and the BNI to produce Hanan before the court. The application has been scheduled for hearing on Friday, July 10, 2026.
GhanaWeb sources further indicated that Hanan was detained for four days and five nights despite being on bail granted by the court two months ago.
It will be recalled that former National Food and Buffer Stock Company Limited (NAFCO) CEO, Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, was arrested on July 4, 2026, at the airport while preparing to travel to London for a scheduled appointment with an eye specialist, despite having secured permission from the court to travel.
In the habeas corpus application, which is scheduled to be heard on Friday, July 10, 2026, his lawyers are seeking an order directing the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) to produce him before the court.

They are also asking the court to compel the BNI to comply with its June 29, 2026, order permitting Hanan to travel abroad for medical treatment, affirm the validity of that travel order, and grant any other relief the court deems appropriate under the circumstances.
