BA police nab three robbers

The Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers two of whom are teenagers.

The suspects are Baba Seidu Adams, 20, an unemployed and native of Ntobroso near Nyinahini in the Ashanti Region; Kwaku Dankwah aka Catcher, 17, a school dropout also from Ntobroso and George Akologo aka Cross, 18, a labourer who hails from Sirigu, near Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.

They were grabbed on Friday, May 5, at about 5:30pm at Acherensua in the Asutifi South District of the Brong-Ahafo Region through intelligence.

The Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Maxwell Sakipasgo Atingane, hinted DAILY GUIDE that the robbers, numbering five and armed with two locally manufactured pistols and cutlasses, had earlier attacked and robbed a businessman (name withheld) who deals in gold at gun point at Nyinahini in the Ashanti Region.

The victim who was travelling from Ntobroso, a gold mining site near Nyinahini in a Nissan Pick-up was stopped by the robbers who robbed him of the vehicle, some quantity of gold and an unspecified amount of money and drove off.

He said the robbers later abandoned the vehicle and escaped to Hwidiem in the Brong Ahafo Region.

During interrogation, the three arrested robbers who had in their possession an amount of GH¢29,943.00, confessed to the crime and further revealed that two of the robbers, namely Believer and Kwaku, however managed to escape with their weapons and some of the booty.

The trio has since been handed over to the Ashanti Regional Police Command for further investigations.
