The Queen mother of Chiraa in the Brong Ahafo Region Nana Yeboaa Pene II has made a passionate appeal to the President of the Republic of Ghana through the Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister to fix the major trunk road in the area in order to reduce recurring road accidents.

Nana made the appeal when the Member of Parliament for Sunyani West who doubles as Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Hon Ignatius Baffour Awuah paid a visit to the area to commiserate with the families of a pregnant women and others who were killed when a tipper truck with registration number GW- 3951-14 run over them last Thursday.

The sad incident occurred about 2:30 pm last Thursday, threw the entire Chiraa township into a state of mourning.

According to eyewitnesses, the pregnant woman gave birth instantly to twins, but they all died while scores of people also got injured.

Speaking to the media, Nana Yeboaa Pene II described the incident as a “major loss” and a disaster that had befallen the entire Sunyani West District.

She blamed the incident on the deplorable state of the Chiraa road which connects the three Northern regions.

“I’m pleading with the DCE of Sunyani West, Regional Minister, and the MP to let the President know that our road is very bad so it should be fixed. The road is full of potholes. And I know President is a father and so he should ensure that the road is fixed for us before another accident happens.
