Ayisi Boateng should be commended for apologising - Lawyer Adofo

Ghana Ghana

A Private Legal Practitioner Kwame Adofo has stated that Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa George Ayisi Boateng should be commended for apologising over his divisive comment.

Lawyer Adofo advised Ghanaians to stop criticising the High Commissioner and that he should be allowed not to do his work and not sacked.

Speaking with Lantam Papanko on Ultimate Breakfast Show, he indicated that the apology is enough and the Commissioner should be giving a chance because he’s new at his post.

The High Commissioner interacting with the student group of New Patriotic Party (NPP) TESCON said NPP supporters are his topmost priority and that he will place them ahead of any other Ghanaian.

He apologised few hours to a summon by the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo after refusing to apologise.

Lawyer Adofo stated that it is not in the character of Mr Ayisi to be divisive saying the High commissioner is not the type that insults anyhow.

He praised the government for taking a bold decision by summoning the High Commissioner accusing National Democratic Congress (NDC) gurus of refusing to apologise when they erred during their term.

He said majority of politicians have made worst statements than what Mr Ayisi said but got away with it.

‘…Ayisi Boateng shouldn’t go… I think there is something noble when some wrongs you and comes to apologise, and say I’m sorry, you have to give them a chance. There is no point flogging a dead horse. We all know him, he is not a saint but has being an ordinary decent member of our community. Both on the left side of NDC and right side of NPP, everybody knows Mr Ayisi Boateng.

‘Everybody knows that he is not the type that just speaks anyhow. He is not the type that insults any how or discriminate… In an attempt to excite his base, he may have gone a little bit too far,…I think we need to even commend Mr Ayisi Boateng for being bold enough to say look I think on reflection I was wrong, I’m sorry. Its up to us to move forward,… enough is enough, let’s stop beating him,’ he stated.
