Ayawaso West house to house testing: Dumelo questions government preparedness

John Dumelo John Dumelo

A letter circulating on several social media platforms suggests that the government intends to undergo a house to house testing of people in the Ayawaso West Constituency.

According to the letter, the area has been tagged as the hotspot for COVID-19 and therefore there’s supposed to be contact tracing in the various communities.

The letter further mentioned that over a hundred Health personnel, Security personnel would be deployed to the area to start the exercise today and end on the 10th of April.

Reacting to the Letter, John Dumelo who is the Aspiring Member of Parliament for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in the Constituency has questioned the government on whether enough education has gone down at the Community level.

He asked several questions saying “Going by the letter, it means 10,000 residents would be tested in a day for the 10 day period. We know there are only about 70,000 kits in Gh so far. Do we have enough test kits in the country for this? Or is it going to be random sampling?

We know Noguchi can only process 150 cases a day. Are they going to be able to handle this? Are the medical and security personnel going to be in full PPE’s? Would they change each PPE when they enter each household?

What are the Techinal modalities for this operation? We welcome this exercise but we would be happy if these questions are answered from the appropriate authorities. Thanks”.

Ghana’s cases currently stand at 161 with some 49 persons discharged and are under home care.
