Residents at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency have been presented with 11 KIA Morning saloon cars to be used as commercial public transport for revenue generation for the constituency.

The presentation was made by Ms Lydia Seyram Alhassan, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for the area.

According to the MP, the presentation is part of measures rolled out to create employment for persons with driving competencies within the constituency, thereby providing more employment opportunities within the constituency.

The cars have been presented to the eleven (11) electoral areas in the constituency, namely; Okponglo, Legon A, Legon B, Dzorwulu, Abelemkpe, Roman Ridge, Christian Village, East Legon, Westlands, Tesano and Mempeasem.

Ms Alhassan stated at the handing over ceremony that she was committed to bringing her personal entrepreneurial skills to bear in order to tackle unemployment in the constituency.

According to the legislator, the measures rolled out to tackle unemployment is under the umbrella “Ayawaso West Wuogon Entrepreneurship Scheme”.

The Scheme seeks to empower the youth in the area to get involved in Entrepreneurial activities in order to solve the unemployment menace in the country.

“We are rolling out makeup, interior decoration, catering, sewing and fashion designing and many other programmes under the Youth Entrepreneurship Schemes, and this is just the beginning,” she stated at the handing over ceremony.

The legislator, who replaced her late husband, Emmanuel Boakye Agyarko on the ticket of the ruling NPP stated that the initiative is not political and therefore called on all political parties to join her in the cause.

“This is not an NPP thing. This is for the whole constituency. I am inviting all the political parties and our members to join me in this cause. It is going to develop our constituency; it is going to develop our electoral areas” she added.

Ms Alhassan further added: “the people will at least recognise what we are doing and I am asking them to come on board to help push the cause.”
