The All People’s Congress (APC) has announced that it will present a candidate to represent the party in the Tamale Central by-election scheduled for September 30, 2025.

In a statement issued by the party’s Communications Directorate on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the party emphasised the importance of participating in the election.

According to the statement, the people of the Tamale Central constituency deserve a capable leader who can effectively represent their interests in Parliament and provide strong leadership.

Though the party did not provide details on the candidate or when they will present them, it stated that the decision came after broader consultations and considerations of the constituency’s needs.

“The All People's Congress (APC), under the leadership of Alhaji Dr Hassan Ayariga, wishes to officially announce its decision to present a candidate to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections in the Tamale Central Constituency,” portions of the statement read.

“After careful consideration and broad consultations with the national and constituency leadership of the party, the APC is convinced that Tamale Central deserves strong, credible, and people-centered representation in Parliament. The APC is ready to offer that alternative through a capable candidate who embodies the values and vision of our great party,” it added.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, the party’s founder and leader, Dr Hassan Ayariga, expressed his support for the decision and assured the public of their commitment to fielding a candidate who will genuinely represent the concerns of the Tamale Central constituents.

"The APC is committed to deepening Ghana's democracy by giving the people of Tamale Central a true voice in Parliament. Politics is about participation, representation, and winning elections for the betterment of our people. We are prepared to work tirelessly with our grassroots to secure victory in Tamale Central," it stated.

The party urged its members and supporters to rally behind the decision to ensure victory, expressing optimism about securing the win.

“We therefore call on the rank and file of the party, our loyal supporters, and the people of Tamale Central to rally behind our candidate as we march forward to victory. Together, we will win Tamale Central for the APC,” it said.
