Awuni lauds government for infrastructural development

Former press secretary of ex-President J.A Kufour and the Executive Director of Centre for Freedom and Accuracy Andrew Awuni has lauded the government for expanding infrastructural development across the country.

According to him, despite the numerous projects, the economy remained in bad shape.

Speaking to Class News, Mr. Awuni said the economic downturn was due to excessive borrowing.

“I think that the NDC like I said, [has] done well in some aspects in certain areas especially in infrastructure. They’ve done well with human rights, they have held up the record of President Kufour, they haven’t lowered the bar. A lot of things have been thrown at Mahama but he hasn’t responded. Even when he does, he does so gently so our human rights records are quite intact. There is the free press and all that of course, not to talk of the recent mishaps, but in all those departments, the NDC government under Mahama has done well,” he stated.

“Their biggest failure [however] is the economy and I think that they brought that upon themselves. I feel sorry for President Mahama for just refusing to listen.

It’s common sense that borrowing like that just doesn’t make sense. That’s why you can’t pay teachers, that’s why you can’t pay nurses because you bought things you should have paid yourself, it’s just common sense and so they brought this upon themselves and brought it upon the nation and I feel sorry.

Otherwise, these other departments like human rights, they’ve done well, they’ve improved upon education, and they’ve improved upon civil rights, health, and infrastructure generally. They’ve done well but everybody is looking at the economy now and everybody is affected by the economy…” Mr. Awuni added.
