Auto-Mechanic jailed 15 years for defilement

Nsuta (Ash), Nov 10, GNA – A circuit court at Nsuta in the Ashanti Region, on Tuesday sentenced Kwasi Boakye, a 28-year-old auto-mechanic, to 15 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a three-year-old girl.

He pleaded not guilty.

Inspector James Obeng told the court presided over by Judge Kofi Nyanteh Akuffo, that on June 6 last year, the convict’s father told him (convict) that their family had gold hidden at an unknown location at Benim, near Asante Mampong.

The court heard that Boakye consulted a Mallam called Ibrahim at Kofiase, near Mampong to help him find the gold.

Insp. Obeng said on August 10 last year, the Mallam gave the convict a white handkerchief and asked him to have sex with a girl between three and five years old The prosecution said the Mallam asked Boakye to use the handkerchief to wipe blood that would ooze from girl’s private part and return it to him (Mallam) for rituals.

Insp. Obeng said Boakye saw the victim walking on the street at Kofiase and lured her into a nearby bush near the SDA Primary School in the community and sexually assaulted her. The prosecution said when the girl returned home, the parents saw blood all over her pants and her private part.

Insp, Obeng said when the girl was interrogated by her parents; she said she was sexually assaulted but the girl could not mentioned anyone’s name. The court heard that the parents of the girl reported the case to the police at Kofiase and they (parents) received medical forms from the police and sent the victim to Mampong Hospital where she was treated and discharged.

According to the prosecution, on September 16, last year, whilst the victim was walking with the mother at Mampong, she spotted the convict repairing a motorbike and she told the mother that it was Boakye who defiled her. Insp Obeng said the mother reported the case to the police and Boakye was apprehended.

A medical doctor testified before the court that the girl was defiled.
