Atwima Mponua Health Directorate cry for help

The Health Directorate of Atwima Mponua cries for help from Ghana Health Service in diverse ways. This was made known at the Annual Health Review meeting where industry players met at the Assembly Hall of the District Assembly to discuss what transpired under the year of review; thus 2018.

Mr. Kojo Kyei-Fram, the Director of health services bemoaned the near lack of logics which has bedevilled his district. The District which has over 142,000 population with over 356 communities can only boost of 1 hospital, 8 Health Centres, 5CHPs compounds, 29 midwives, 2 Medical Doctors and 24 Enrol Nurses and a Pharmacist.

This he stated is willfully inadequate. “this district harbours Ghana’s rich bauxite but it has no Car or a Pick for supervision, or an Ambulance to deliver emergency health delivery to its people”, he lamented.

According to Mr. Kyei, these developments are causing their clientelle to visit other border regions because of proximity. However, Mr. Kyei acknowledged the deeds of the District Assembly but called for urgent attention to retool the district with staff Midwives, Staff Nurses and Physician Assistants to augment the workforce in the communities.

The District Chief Executive Hon. William Darko on his part, stated, his outfit is doing more by building more CHPs compound and Health centres whiles retooling existing ones to meet the health needs of his people.

He mentioned projects like Achiase Health Centre, Bedabour CHPs compound, Anansu and Anwiafutu CHPs which are near completion and shall be in operations soon.

The in-charges of the various health centres during their presentations bemoaned the deplorable facilities in which they work as an eye-sore and wants their authorities to come to their aid. They stated poor road networks which link communities, inadequate staff, portable water systems as the bane of their woes and it serves as a demotivation to their services.

The chairman of the day, Rev. Simon Mensah, pleaded with stakeholders, philanthropists and other well-wishers to come to the aid of the Health Directorate to deliver the best of services to the people.

Present at the meeting were Chiefs, opinion leaders, politicians, civil servants, Health workers, press and the general public.
