Special Prosecutor, Martin ABK Amidu has suggested that Attorney General Gloria Akuffo is frustrating him by denying him access to money allocated to his office.

He is calling out the Ministry of Justice for refusing to use GH¢2 million to procure vehicles for his office that is faced by a myriad of challenges.

“The Ministry of Justice is supposed to be in charge of my office. How many times has she come to my office? Does she know where it is? I was given GH¢2 million to procure vehicles through the Ministry of Justice. What happened to it? He told celebrated journalist David Ampofo on the Time With David show monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

Mr Martin lamented that his inability to procure goods and services needed for his office due to government’s failure to add him to entities of it that can do procurement has negatively affected the operations of his office.

“You say you have given GH¢180 million. I cannot access the GH¢180 million because as we speak today, my office has not been classified for procurement purposes. So I cannot procure cars myself, I cannot procure equipment myself. I can procure nothing,” he complained.

Martin Amidu has been a longstanding anti-corruption crusader, earning the name “Citizen Vigilante” because of his remarkable exploits in the fight against corruption. But upon his appointment as Ghana’s first Special Prosecutor, he has woefully failed to meet expectations.

But he has consistently written and spoken about how his office has been deprived resources – both human and material- to enable him effectively and efficiently fight corruption.
