Atobiase embarks on 30 million cedis programme

Atobiase (Ash), April 25, GNA - The people of Atobiase, a farming community in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma district have embarked on a five-year development programme estimated at 30 million cedis.

Projects earmarked under the programme include the construction of a four-kilometre road from Atobiase to Tetrefu, a kindergarten, two places of convenience and agro-forestry.

Mr Ben Acheampong, Secretary of the Unit Committee said this on Monday, at a fund-raising rally in support of the projects at Atobiase. He said the community has already pumped three million cedis into the kindergarten project, which is at the foundation stage adding that the programme would be financed through voluntary contributions and other fund-raising activities and assistance from the District Assembly.

Mr I. K. Nyame, District Chief Executive called on the people not to allow their political affiliation to undermine their collective effort to ensure the development of the community.

He advised them to rally behind the Unit Committee, Assembly Members and Chiefs initiate projects. The DCE asked them to ensure that their names are in voter register when it is re-opened to enable them to exercise their franchise.

Nana Agyeiwaa Bosuo II, Atoabishemaa appealed to them to take active part in communal labour. A total of 2.5 million cedis was raised at the rally.
