Atlanta celebrating Ghana’s 51st independence anniversary

ATLANTA TO CELEBRATE GHANA’S 51ST INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY

In the spirit of unity the Ghana Council in Atlanta in conjunction with other ethnic associations will host a dance as part of planned activities celebrating Ghana’s 51st independence anniversary on Saturday, March 8, 2008 from 9 pm – 3 am. The event will be held at the Association of Black Cardiologists Conference Center, 5535 Hunter Road Atlanta, Georgia.

Program sponsors include Delta Air Lines, Western Union, Moneygram and Theatre South Atlanta. According to Mr. Reuben Darku, member of the planning committee, “once again it is refreshing to see Ghanaian groups in Atlanta come together for a common cause”. The main speaker for the March 8 event will be Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Lartey, Senior Pastor of Ghana Unity Church. The Ghanaian Ministers Association, Atlanta has also announced an interdenominational service, which will be held at All Nations church on Saturday, March 1, 2008 from 6 pm – 9 pm. Rev. Dr. Frank Ofosu Appiah, Senior Pastor of All Nations Church will be the main speaker and the theme for this year’s service will be “ A renewed commitment to freedom and justice”.
