Thomas Ayarba, the Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) in the Bono East Region, has presented 550 dual desks to the Municipal Directorate of Education for distribution to basic schools in the municipality.
Speaking at a brief ceremony at Atebubu, Ayarba said the Assembly remained committed to ensuring that schoolchildren studied in a conducive environment.
He said addressing the deficit in classroom furniture in schools across the municipality would promote effective teaching and learning and improving the academic performance of pupils.
Ayarba urged the Directorate to ensure that the desks were distributed based on needs assessment to enable the most deserving schools to benefit.
He emphasised that quality education remained the surest legacy that could be bequeathed to the younger generation and reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to investing in the education sector to achieve improved learning outcomes.
Isaac Budu, the Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Director of Education, expressed gratitude to the Assembly for the support and pledged to ensure a fair and needs-based distribution of the desks to beneficiary schools.
