Winneba (C/R), Nov.20, GNA - An Assembly member in Winneba is helping the Winneba Police in their investigation into an alleged use of threaten statements made on an FM station in the town. The name of the Assemblyman is being withheld for security reasons. The Winneba Municipal Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jordan Quaye said this at a meeting with some political party executives at his office in Winneba. According to the Police Commander the Assemblyman was alleged to have said on the radio that "blood would spill if his party did not win this year elections". The name of the party is also being withheld pending further investigation into the matter, after which he would be made to face the full rigour of the law if found guilty. Addressing the meeting, which was only attended by the New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Congress executives, ASP Quaye asked them to implore on their supporters to desist from 'beating war drums'. He appealed to Ghanaians to contribute towards a credible, peaceful, free and fair election, devoid of rancour and acrimony Mr Kofi Taylor, NPP chairman and Mr Kojo Asmah Bondzie, NDC chairman promised that they would continue to educate their members on the need for a peaceful election. 20 Nov. 08
