Aspiring PNC National Youth Organiser launches campaign

Accra, Oct. 4, GNA - Mr Abubakar Ramadan, aspiring National Youth Organiser of the Peoples' National Convention (PNC) has blamed the downwa= rd spiral of the party's fortunes since 1992 to poor organisation. He said the party needed to rebuild, rejuvenate and strengthen the organisation of its activities at the youth level. Mr Ramadan made the observation at the formal launching of his campaig= n in Accra on Tuesday to contest for the position during the party's Nation= al Delegates Congress scheduled for Sunyani, on Saturday, November 26. The campaign is on the motto, 93Rebuilding, Rejuvenating, and Strengthening the Youth Wing of the PNC", emphasising on the youth toward= s providing a credible alternative to Ghanaians.

Mr Ramadan said it was important to totally overhaul and revive the party's youth structure which was crucial for a political party's readi= ness to take the helm of affairs of a country. He said this would be done through the active involvement of all young and energetic faithful within the party and tertiary institutions through short to long term programmes on the political tradition and ideology of th= e party.

Mr Ramadan, who is also the Director of Operations, Alliance For Accountable Governance (AFAG), said rejuvenating the party would automatically invigorate the party by reaching out to the grassroots and Ghanaians at large, as well as bringing back the reputation and the goodwil= l of the party's political tradition.

He said strengthening the party's political foundation at the tertia= ry level on all major tertiary institutions before Election 2012 was important to enhance the party's chances of securing the mandate to rule the nation= .. This could be achieved with conscious efforts like visitation, open forums, massive involvement of the youth through dialogue and a philosophy of non-violence, he noted. Mr Ramadan called on all delegates of the PNC to vote and support him to make the party win Election 2012.
