Asikuma police arrest 10 persons for misconduct

Breman Asikuma C/R, April 15, GNA - The Breman Asikuma Police have arrested 10 people who allegedly caused trouble at Ghana's 48th Independence celebration at Asikuma last month. They are Anthony Amoakwa, Alhaji Kojo salim, Okatakyi Egyire, Kenneth Owongo Nyankson , Sekyi Kwame, Fabu, Attah , Nana Kwame, Asamoah Boadu and Comfort Sackey.

The suspects hooted, insulted and threw stones at the Nana Amoakwa Boadu, Omanhene of Breman Asikuma, Mr Sampson Anfako, the District Chief Executive, heads of departments and the clergy at the Breman Asikuma Boys' Park during the ceremony marking Ghana's independence anniversary at Breman Asikuma on Macrh 6.

Detective Chief Inspector Nkrumah Danso of the Breman Asikuma District Police Headquarters told the GNA at Breman Asikuma on Thursday that the accused took part in the march past to mark the anniversary.

He said when one of them got near the dais where the dignitaries were seated, the veered off to clean the shoes of Mr P.C Appiah-Ofori, MP for the area.

Detective Chief Inspector Danso said the 10 suspects who had been on police enquiry bail, insulted and threw stones at the vehicle of the DCE and other dignitaries after the parade. He said the police had a hectic time escorting the DCE and Omanhene from the durbar ground.

Mr Danso said the 10 would be put before the Breman Asikuma Magistrate Court when investigations are completed.
