Asiedu Nketia in visa scam

A crime of local and international ramifications involving the illegal transportation of persons has been taking place under the cover of key members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Daily Searchlight can reveal.

So far, several members of the party including its General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, his deputy George Lawson, ministers of state and several others have been named as key and focal persons around whom the vis racket was built.

Highly placed sources at the headquarters of the NDC have told us that as party, the NDC (and the government) has links to several international organizations which often invite them for various programmes.

The source said, “These international organizations sometimes sand us invitations seeking for us to bring twenty or thirty people to come for workshops. These workshops sometimes last for weeks, so we shortlist our members. It is something that we do for our members, but we often bring on board people who want to pay.

These delegations are led by party leadership like Johnson Asiedu Nketia and sometimes the ministers”.

The source stated that after collecting monies from the prospective travelers, they would add their names to a list which would be forwarded to the various embassies along with the passports for the visas.

Yesterday, the Daily Searchlight made strenuous efforts to get Mr. George Lawson, Deputy General Secretary of the NDC and one of the people named along with his boss as key players in the visa scam.
