General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has handed over a 4-unit two-bedroom teachers quarters worth GH¢400, 000 to the Nkoranman Senior High School (SHS) at Seikwa in the Tain District of the Brong Ahafo region.

“I initiated the school while as an assemblyman at Seikwa as part of a campaign promise at the time. It was later absorbed by government and in commemoration of the 25th anniversary, I pledged an anniversary project. I have since commissioned the silver jubilee project which is made up of four units of two-bedroom flats for teachers and handed it over to the DCE of the area who intend handed it over to the school”, he revealed.

According to him, he solicited support from corporate institutions including GOIL and former students of the school who are financially sound to help bring the project to life.

“The board decided to name the project after me upon persistence so I have accepted it and it was accordingly done”, he revealed on Okay Fm.

He used the opportunity to urge assembly members not to rely on common fund to embark on projects but they should do proper planning in developing their areas from their own initiatives.

The school project itself was the brainchild of a number of citizens of Seikwa led by the General Secretary of the opposition NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.

The school which started in rented premises consisting of a big room partitioned into three classrooms in Seikwa town, moved to its current location on the outskirts, in 1992 when it joined the ranks of Government assisted Senior High Schools.

The school until recently could be described as a deprived institution but fortune has smiled on it and Government through the GETFUND, in the last five years it has given it a complete makeover that has made it one of the best resourced in Brong-Ahafo and Ghana as a whole so far as infrastructure goes.

Among the new facilities are a 2000 capacity dining hall, which doubles as an Assembly Hall, science and ICT Laboratories, an administration block, with a library section, three teachers’ quarters, a 12 unit classroom block and tarred access roads.

Also provided for the school are a fence wall, an impressive main gate, two over head tanks and a mechanized borehole. So it was with great joy that the Stakeholders in the school gathered to climax the Weeklong 25th Anniversary Celebrations.
