Ashongman Methodist lays foundation for church building

Accra, June 14, GNA- The Ashongman Estate branch of the Methodist Church of Ghana, on Sunday laid the foundation for the construction of a 227, 809 Ghana cedis church complex. The 1,200 capacity building is intended to accommodate the increasing membership of the church, which now stands at 250. In a sermon, the Rt. Reverend Dr. Joseph Kow Ghunny, Presiding Bishop of Winneba Diocese of the Church, congratulated the members for their bold initiative to move the church from a classroom. He urged them to take interest in the things of God and strive to do things that would bring glory and honour to God and Christianity. "We are the representatives of God on this earth and therefore all our actions should be to His glory and also move others to embrace Christianity," he said.

Rev. Ghunny called on the members to have faith in God and let the fire of evangelism burn in their hearts in order to win more souls for Christ.

Rev. Ernest Baiden, Resident Minister of the Church, said the project would be in phases. He also announced plans for the mission to put up Girls Vocational Training School.

Rev. Baiden urged the youth to work very hard to generate wealth and eschew vices such as cyber fraud; popularly called 'sakawa', since ill- gotten wealth does not please God.
