The Ashanti Regional Police Command in acting upon the intelligence of Nyinahini District Police Command has arrested three suspected arm robbers at Afepaye.

It was alleged that the three suspects, Dramani 24, Richard Bromyiwa 25, and Joseph Gyimah 24, were involved in an armed robbery that took place at the Asanayo forest on the Afepaye Nyinahini trunk road on Monday, January 15, 2018, at about 4:30 am.

Otec news’ reporter Simon Opoku Afriyie who was at the press briefing at the Central police station on Friday, January 19, 2018, reported that three suspects were paraded for public identification.

The Deputy Ashanti Regional police commander DCOP Fred Adu Anim addressing the media said the suspects wielding two single barrel guns, laid ambush at the Asenayo forest, fired and stopped a driver in charge of a 207 sprinter Benz passenger bus with registration no WR 844-X on the aforementioned date and time and forcibly ordered him to stop, which he obliged out of fear.

“The three suspects [were] armed [and] robbed at gunpoint then ordered the driver and the passengers out of the vehicle to lie down [and] subsequently robbed them of unspecified amount of money and over twenty mobile phones,” he added.

The suspects are in the police custody assisting the police in investigation.
