The World Diplomatic Federation International (WDFI) has honoured the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ashaiman, Freeman Tsekpo, in recognition of his exceptional leadership and significant contributions to community development.
The award acknowledges Tsekpo’s role in driving key infrastructure and social development projects across the municipality. According to WDFI, his administration has made notable strides in improving water access, sanitation, and road networks, positively impacting the lives of residents.
Among the highlighted initiatives is the Ashaiman Main Market Redevelopment Project, which aims to transform the market into a modern 24-hour economic hub. The project is designed to provide improved trading facilities while ensuring that existing traders are not displaced but rather benefit from the upgrade.
The Federation also commended the MCE’s “Big Push” initiative, which focuses on upgrading major road networks. Key projects include the dual-carriage road linking Lashibi to Ashaiman, as well as the stretch from the Ashaiman Traffic Light to Zenu—developments expected to enhance transportation and boost local economic activity.
In the area of education and youth development, Tsekpo’s administration has supported the upgrading of educational facilities, promoted entrepreneurship, and facilitated job creation for young people within the municipality.
Efforts to improve security and sanitation were also recognised, particularly the installation of streetlights to enhance public safety and the promotion of community sanitation programmes.
WDFI further noted that Tsekpo’s leadership style is rooted in inclusive governance, with active engagement of traders, youth groups, and other stakeholders to ensure that development initiatives reflect the needs of the community.
The award adds to growing recognition of the MCE’s commitment to transparent, people-centred governance and sustainable development in Ashaiman.
Tsekpo expressed gratitude for the recognition, reaffirming his dedication to advancing development and improving the living conditions of residents in the municipality.
