The head of drainage at the Hydro-logical Services Department of the Ministry of Works and Housing, Seth Kudodzi has revealed that work on the deplorable state of the Ashaiman drainage system has begun with a feasibility study.
Speaking in an interview on the Happy Morning Show, he stated: “The Ministry of Works and Housing for that matter the Hydrological Services Department planned for the drainage system in Ashaiman. We have already begun work at Lebanon by constructing an underground drainage system for the area.
Currently, the Minister has contracted some consultants to do a feasibility study to come out with designs so that we will be able to award the remaining drains for construction”.
According to him, Government is expecting that consultants working on the feasibility studies will be done in a couple of months for the Government to take action on the drain. He added that when the reports are provided, the Government will tackle the important areas of Ashaiman to bring relief to the people of Ashaiman.
He concluded by stating that the Government has taken temporary measures to control the situation.
“At the moment, we have been doing regular desilting in Ashaiman and this year we will be doing dredging”, he said.
