Asantehene’s grand durbar records some casualties

More than 115 people had to receive treatment from the two mobile medical centres set up to provide first aid emergency health care at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, venue for  the grand durbar that climaxed the 15th anniversary celebration of the enthronement of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

     Dr. Eno Biney and Dr. Maxwel Owusu-Ampofo, who headed the medical teams from the Emergency Medicine Unit of the Komfo Anokye teaching Hospital (KATH), told the Ghana News Agency that the cases included low blood sugar (Hypoglycemia), dehydration, diarrhoea and vomiting, breathlessness or heart palpitation and headaches.

     Dr. Owusu-Ampofo said there was one case of heart failure and the patient was referred to the KATH, adding that, the patient’s condition is stable.

     He noted that people suffered the low blood sugar because they did not have time to eat while the dehydration was as a result of the excessive heat.

     On security, Assistant Superintendent Police (ASP) Mohammed Yussif Tanko confirmed to the GNA that one person was arrested with a pump action gun.

     He is being held in police custody to assist investigations
