Asantehene's Ambassador To North America Arrives For Asanteman Day

Dr. Nana Adusei Antwenewa Ampem I, Tepamanhene and who is also the accredited ambassador of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to Asanteman Community in North America is in United States of America to represent His Royal Majesty at the Grand Durbar of Chiefs, Queen-mothers and the entire Asanteman Community in North America that will be held at the Soundview Park, Bronx New York on September 5, 2015 to observe and celebrate the Asanteman Day.

Also arriving with him as part of Otumfuo's delegation to this year's Asanteman Day Celebrations is Otumfuo's Manwerehene, Baffour Osei Hyiaman Brantuo VI.

Otumfuo's ambassador declared that His Royal Majesty and all Nananom at Manhyia, are solidly behind this event and therefore he hopes that the entire Asanteman Community in North America in particular and the general public will be at the Durbar to be treated to authentic and rich Asante Cultural display.

Since Asante Culture is the soul and mind of the Asante people, Otumfuo's ambassador emphasized that His Royal Majesty takes personal interest in ensuring that wherever and whenever Asante Culture is on display, the best of who we are as Asantes, comes out for public appreciation and support.

Additionally, he is here to also deliver a special goodwill message from Otumfuo to the Asanteman Community of North America and will call on them to eschew unhealthy competition, rivalry, self- destructive behaviors and unnecessary divisions but forge together in unity because together we will continue to build on the legacy of the Founding Kings of Asante Kingdom.

Several chiefs who occupy chieftaincy titles in Ghana and who are resident in North America will be at the Durbar to support Otumfuo's representative who will be adorned in rich Kente Cloth and Golden Ornaments to "Sit in State" and the public will pay homage to him.


Additionally, Asantefuohene and Asantefuohemaa of New York, the host, will lead the New York Asanteman to welcome Otumfuo's representatives, followed by other Asanteman Communities in North America led by their respective Asantefuo Ahenfo and Ahemaa with pageantry.

The grand finale of the Asanteman Day 2015 celebrations will feature a grand fundraising dinner dance on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at the Ghanatta Hall in Bronx, New York and starting at 6pm.

Several businesses, professionals and individuals are sponsoring the event.
A historic and educative Asanteman Day 2015 Souvenir Book will be given out at the functions. The goal of this year's celebration is to raise $100,000 to support Otumfuo's Education Initiative in the area of efforts to eradicate "schools under trees".
