Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has waded into the ‘Ashantehene controversy’ by stating publicly, he will not kneel before the overlord of the Asanteman, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in any circumstance.

Speaking on Accra based Peace FM on the matter of top NPP executives going on their knees publicly to beg the angry king who threw them out of his palace.

Abdul Malik Kweku Baako opined that even though he has great respect for the Asntehene and also described him as a wise person, he will never go to the extent of going on his knees before him.

“This country is a Republic, those who chose to pacify the Asantehene Otumfuo by kneeling down, they’re entitled to that, that was their own choice. Kweku Baako wouldn't do that, of cause not…what are you talking about? I won’t do that! I’m not a coward and I speak my mind. Anybody out there is entitled to disagree with me, but I’ll speak my mind.”

The Asantehene was reportedly angry over concerns that some members of the NPP government are attempting to pitch him [Asantehene] against the Ohyehene and Akyems.

This led to an entourage from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to go on their knees to passionately plead with the Asante king and assure him everything possible will be done to ensure that his grievances with the party are addressed.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo also on Tuesday met the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II over recent concerns that some government functionaries were working to malign the Asantehene.
