The body of the late Asantehemaa was, on Monday, September 15, 2025, laid in state at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
Thousands of mourners, including traditional leaders, government officials, and ordinary citizens, thronged the palace grounds to pay their final respects to the revered queen mother.
The solemn event was marked by traditional rites and deep cultural displays befitting the stature of the Asantehemaa, whose reign was widely admired for her dedication to the Ashanti Kingdom and her role in preserving its traditions.
Security was tight as mourners filed past in long queues, many dressed in black and red to symbolise grief and honour for the departed queen.
The funeral rites will continue in the coming days, with dignitaries from across the country and beyond expected to attend.
The funeral, which will be observed for a week, is expected to attract thousands of mourners and high-profile guests from Ghana and beyond to commiserate with the bereaved Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The funeral rites will be held from September 14 to September 18, 2025.
