The Chairman of the Committee on Health, Sanitation, and Waste for the funeral of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, Nana Professor Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II, has announced a comprehensive health and safety programme to support mourners during the four-day funeral rites.

According to a 3news.com report dated September 13, 2025, doctors and nurses will be deployed to mobile clinics at the funeral grounds from September 15 to 18, 2025, to attend to emergencies and ensure the wellbeing of attendees.

“The move is to prepare for any eventuality that may occur during the funeral, which is expected to be attended by thousands of Ghanaians from across the country as well as foreign dignitaries,” the report said.

The Funeral Planning Committee, which includes representatives from the Red Cross Society, Waste Management Department, Metro Health Directorate, and ambulance services, has pledged to ensure an incident-free event in terms of health and sanitation.

Nana Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II emphasised the need for residents to cooperate with the measures.

“Our charge is to ensure that Kumasi is clean, safe, and free of filth on the streets. We have instructed all environmental health officers to intensify house-to-house inspections. If they see any filth, they should ensure it is cleared,” he cautioned.

He also appealed to attendees to take personal responsibility for their safety, including eating before arriving at the grounds and exercising caution to prevent accidents.

The mini clinics will be located at the Manhyia Museum, the Manhyia Palace Administration area, the Asantehemaa’s residence, and the Manhyia Government Hospital.
