Residents of the Banda district in the Bono East Region are calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) David Asante Appeatu to come to their rescue as armed robbers have taken over the town, forcing them to remain indoors for the fear of their lives and properties.

Speaking to Kwame Adinkra on Pure Morning Drive monitored by MyNewsGh.com, the Chief Executive Officer of the Middle Belt Development, Hon. Joe Danquah complained that, the residents including himself are living in fear for almost two weeks now, saying farmers, chiefs and market women have been attacked and robbed of their belongings at gun points by these hoodlums.

He explained that, the Police in the district who appear incapacitated have literally done nothing to ensure the safety of residence hence their resolve to stay indoors to protect their lives.

“Kwame, we only begging the IGP to come to our aid because our lives are in danger, scores of our people are in hospitals with various injuries and a lot with their properties taken from them. You know we are harvesting cashew in our area on commercial scale but because of this incident, we are unable to go to our farms. This is so sad. Please, let it reach the IGP that we are in need of help. He should deploy police personnel to our area and also station patrol team in the Banda district. We are living in fear and we plead on him to come to our aid.”

The police commander in the area has been unavailable for comment on the development but MyNewsGh.com gathered that residents are planning to formally petition the Interior Minister about this unfortunate developments in the area.
