Armed robbers beat up colleague

An amount of GH¢10.00 paid by a robbery victim to three armed robbers for the return of his items, including money, has resulted in two of them beating up their colleague.

They subjected their colleague to severe beatings and opened a deep cut on his head, after accusing him of bolting with the money they were to share. And they did not spare his father who went to his rescue, either.

The incident exposed them and led to their arrest by the police.

Briefing the Times here, Superintendent Kwasi Ofori, the Tafo/Pankrono District Police Commander, said last Sunday, the three, Michael Amoako, 28, Kwaku Asare, 21, and Alex Nyarko, 18, went on robbery spree and robbed a businessman, Samuel Amoah of his mobile telephone and a necklace worth GH¢500.00 at Tafo.

The next day, the businessman spotted them at the Tafo market and offered them GH¢ l0 in return for the necklace.

Mr. Ofori said Nyarko collected the money and bolted. His friends, feeling cheated went to his house later in the evening and attacked him with cutlasses opening a deep cut on his head.

Nyarko’s father, Mr. Kwame Frimpong, who chanced upon the incident, attempted to rescue him but that infuriated the two robbers who turned on him, slashing his hand with a cutlass.

As neighbours were attracted to the scene by the shouts, the two robbers fled the scene but a report was made to the police who mounted an intensive search and arrested all three robbers.
