Armed robbers attack District Chief Executive

Akatsi, July 08, GNA - Four suspected armed robbers have attacked Mr Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, the District Chief Executive of Akatsi, at his official residence, robbed him and assaulted his security man and driver on Thursday. They made away with GHC1, 200.00, a laptop and two mobile phones.

The security man, Migbordzi Mawudeka, 55, is on admission at the Akatsi District Hospital while driver, Charles Abah, was treated and discharged.

Mr. Nortsu-Kotoe told the Ghana News Agency that at about 0100 hours on July 07 the four robbers, armed with shot guns, scaled the security wall to the compound of the residence.

Two of the men held the watchman hostage outside and subjected him to severe beatings while the other two forced their way into the residence by breaking through the kitchen door.

The DCE said the two forced their way into the bedroom where his niece was sleeping by cutting the window wire mesh and theat gunpoint ordered the girl to show them where he was.

"The robbers ordered me at gunpoint to surrender all money and other valuables I have, insisting that I withdrew a large amount of money from the bank the previous day and refused my explanation to the contrary", Mr. Nortsu-Kotoe said.

Mr. Nortsu-Kotoe said as the two threatened to kill him he finally gave all the GHC1, 2OO.00 to them and still unsatisfied, they took his mobile phone and the laptop before fleeing after assaulting his driver. A source close to the Police at Akatsi confirmed the story to the
