The Bolgatanga Regional Police Command has arrested 26- year- old Abdulai Issaka in connection with a recent robbery involving a Mobile Money merchant at Yikene, a suburb of Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.

The suspected armed robber in the company of another unidentified man on a Honda motorbike at a gun point, robbed Ezekiel Adoliba of valuables including mobile phone devices, accessories and a cash amount of Ghc8,000 when the victim was returning from work.

The swift investigation of the regional police command however unraveled the identity of the perpetrators and led to the arrest of one of the suspects two days later. A search conducted in his room revealed a case of a Bruno pistol and five rounds of 380 ammunition. Upon further interrogation, the suspect mentioned that the pistol case belonged to a friend called Douglas Ayine. A Bruno mod 92 pistol with 13 rounds of ammunition and a 165 ridden H. E loom 99 Exp 4070 explosives were found in his possession when police arrested him too.

The second suspect then led the police to arrest another man said to be the owner of the pistol. Mumuni Yakubu.

Luck however eluded D/cpl Effah Kyere Williams when Mumuni Yakubu refused ownership of the sophisticated weapon. He fingered the law enforcer as the owner of the pistol and added that he was only acting on the authority of D/Cpl to sell the pistol to Douglas Ayine.

Briefing the press on the incident that led to the arrest of the suspected armed robber, retrieval of ammunition and issues surrounding the involvement of the police officer, the Upper East Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP Redeemer Vincent Dedjo stated further investigations are still underway. He added that D/Cpl Williams Kyere's crime is a case against the state and he was being processed for court. The suspects together with D/cpl Effah Kyere Williams are said to be in lawful custody at the Navrongo Police as investigation continues.
