A former legal advisor to ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor, Victoria Bright, has called for calm in the dispute between the Tamale Teaching Hospital doctors and the Minister of Health.

She urged both parties to apologise to each other to prevent further escalation and harm.

She said this on JoyNews AM show on April 24, 2025.

“Both parties should keep calm and apologise to each other. Otherwise at the end of the day, what we don’t want to happen will eventually happen. The lives of patients are at stake, let's put ego aside and fight for a good cause,” she indicated.

She said this in reaction to the Tamale Teaching Hospital saga where doctors have suspended emergency and OPD services, including the general OPD, antenatal clinic, specialist clinic, and paediatrics OPD.

This decision follows recent developments at the facility, which escalated during a surprise visit by the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, resulting in a heated exchange with members of the hospital’s management team.

Additionally, the Chief Executive Officer, Dr Atiku Adam, was subsequently dismissed by the minister due to managerial concerns.

This action has sparked a series of reactions from the hospital staff, including the indefinite suspension of services in protest against the minister's conduct.
