Koku Anyidoho,Deputy General Secretary of the NDC Koku Anyidoho,Deputy General Secretary of the NDC

A letter making rounds in the media and purportedly addressed to the National Chairman for the ruling New Patriotic (NPP), calling on him to put in place measures to prevent Koku Anyidoho from winning the General Secretary position in the upcoming November 17, 2018 internal National Democratic Congress (NDC) polls.

The letter which was written by the Ashanti Regional Chairman for the NPP, Bernard Antwi Bosiako aka Chairman Wontumi, called on the National Chairman, Freddie Blay, to adopt measures to prevent Mr Anyidoho from winning because his election as chief scribe of the NDC, will affect the chances of NPP.

“Koku Anyidoho proved he can whip the people in line to support and win a cause. Not only is he still lurking around, but he has grown to become one strong pillar in our body politics. Therefore, the NPP I suggest must put resources into the NDC elections, buy the delegates and make sure they vote against Koku Anyidoho’s ambition.’’

The leaked letter further suggested to the party to start an operation to financially push through this agenda.

“I am prepared to financially support this venture, and I ask that that the national also commit resources into it to make sure we achieve this aim.’’

The letter said. The letter also called on the national chair to have the party infiltrate the opposition so they can choose their [NPPs] choice.

Working to retain Asiedu Nketiah is our plan and we must be sure we prosecute this agenda effectively, it added.

“This gentleman Anyidoho has what it takes to cause substantial damage to our quest to retain power, particularly, the youth bracket, as he generally appeals to them.’’

According to the letter, Inasmuch as the 2020 election is up for grabs by the NPP, the government and for that matter, the ruling party cannot afford to fade it’s interest in their elections as the kind of persons elected may have a direct bearing on our chances in 2020 and beyond.’’
