The Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, Emmanuel Tobbin, has condemned violent clashes that occurred between residents of Sowutuom and Omanjor during the climax of the Homowo celebration.
The incident which occurred on Saturday, August 30, 2025, has reportedly claimed the lives of three individuals and left several others injured.

The lawmaker, while condemning the violent clashes in a statement he shared on his Facebook page on September 1, 2025, emphasised the importance of protecting lives and stressed that no one should take the law into their own hands to take another person's life.
“I am deeply saddened and devastated by the tragic incident that occurred on Saturday, 30th August, 2025, between Sowutuom and Omanjor residents, which unfortunately claimed three lives and left several others injured.
“I strongly condemn this violence. Every human life is precious and under no circumstance should anybody take the life of another person,” the statement partly said.
Tobbin, underscoring the importance of festival celebrations and how it is intended to foster unity, assured the public of his commitment to collaborate with the Ghana Police Service to investigate the incident and ensure such occurrences do not happen again.

“I will work with the Ghana Police Service and all the stakeholders involved to investigate and resolve the matter to ensure this doesn't happen again. Festivals are meant to unite us rather than divide us,” he said.
“My condolences to the bereaved families and speedy recovery to all injured. As a member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, I am committed to the safety of my constituents. So, I will work with all traditional authorities and other stakeholders to ensure lasting peace in the Constituency,” he added.
